What Is MLM (Multilevel Marketing)?
An MLM, or Multilevel Marketing company, is a type of business that relies on its sales force to recruit additional salespeople below them, thus creating a “downline.” These salespeople then receive commissions on their own sales, as well as the sales of people they’ve recruited into the MLM.
While some people view MLMs as pyramid schemes or get-rich-quick opportunities, others work hard at their MLM business and never break even, so to be on the safe side; it’s important to do your research before deciding whether or not an MLM is right for you.

Zyia Active MLM Review
The Company
Zyia has been in business for going on 5 years now. It is a very new company and appears to have learned well from its predecessors. It is still an MLM model of business, but the things they are doing differently protect the company from backlash. Let me explain.
I will list the differences and how it affects the outcome for the Zyia representative.
- No Income Disclosure – They are not required to publish an income disclosure, but without one, Zyia Active can make it appear the representatives are making money. There is no concrete breakdown of who makes what amount of income. But according to the FTC, all MLM companies are the same.
- Simplified Compensation Plan – Zyia has broken down the compensation plan to make it appear more straightforward. No matter how simple the 6-minute compensation plan videos make it sound, the plan is still knee-deep in recruits and pushing others to sell so the higher ranking can make more money.
- They strictly adhere to their policy and procedure, which states: Representative or to others in any context, may not make income projections, income claims, or disclose her or his ZYIA ACTIVE income. A statement such as this protects the company against lawsuits, although it appears to protect the Representative.
The Products
The Zyia Company has a tab on its site that describes the quality of its product. It talks about the 4-way stretch and unique technique to create the best activewear. I have purchased Zyia Activewear from a rep in my neighborhood with this in mind; I will give you a first-hand review of the products.
- I love the legging designs as they are different than any other
- The clothing does wash beautifully
- The sizing is wayyy off, I have a 1/2 zip that I had to order in an XXXL yet I wear a med to large
- One of my leggings is so thin I put my finger through the material pulling them up
- I attempted to exchange an item and had to go through the rep to complete the process
Zyia Active is not BBB accredited, although it is based in Utah, not to mention, they do have a B rating on the BBB with a 1 out of 5-star rating for the clothing.

How Can You Become A Zyia Active Representative
There are 2 ways that I am aware of:
- Join from the Zyia Active website
- Join under someone who has invited (recruited) you.
Price To Join
A Zyia Representative is required to purchase a starter kit. In the US, the kit will cost $395. Your kit includes 5 clothing items and a $200 gift card.
You will receive 2 months free website to run your business; however, after the 2 months, the website will cost $15 a month.
Zyia Active MLM Compensation Plan
Zyia has attempted to simplify the Compensation Plan, but honestly, it is impossible to make it easy to understand. By simplifying it, they try to make it sound like it is easy to make money.
Their MLM compensation plan is basically the same as all others; in reality, it is the same with just a few adjustments for each company. You still need to recruit a downline to make the big bucks.
With Zyia, they say you don’t have to recruit if you don’t want to; be as that may, you can make a commission off the clothing you sell. They also say you don’t have to keep inventory; with this in mind; you can earn 20% from each item you sell. But do you make it from the company, or do you have to buy the clothing at a 25% discount and resale them? I am not sure because I could not find a direct answer.
The real money is in recruiting a downline to encourage them to also recruit and sell clothing. The image here reflects the increase in percentage payout; that is to say, when you and your downline combine to create a high volume, you get more money.

To clarify the image above, I found a video of the compensation plan that helps to explain it better. Please keep in mind the Zyia Company promotes a simplified plan, but no MLM compensation plan is simple.

Pros And Cons Of Zyia Active MLM
So now that you have the most relevant information, let’s examine the Pros and Cons and determine what the potential truly is.
Pros
- The Founder Erin is brilliant in her business ability
- The company is new
- Activewear promotes fitness in the general population
Cons
- Zyia Active is an MLM model of business
- The compensation plan high payout is nearly impossible to reach
- Company service is poor
- Product quality is debatable
- No income disclosure
- Closely resembles a pyramid scheme
Zyia Active MLM Income Disclosure
Zyia Active does not have an Income Disclosure; on the other hand, it is no longer required to produce an income document. Since an MLM model of business is a bad idea for anyone to join, it is in the best interest of Zyia not to put out the information. Why? Because it would clearly state that only the top-level representatives make money or break even.
Here is an FTC has documentation that debunks an MLM business model, yet companies still adopt this model. An MLM business recruits representatives to make money for the company in the hope that they will be one of the less than 2% who make it big. All the while, the company is making money, and the rep is struggling to recoup the money they put into the business.
Is Zyia Active MLM A Scam?
A scam is a fraudulent business where a company is dishonest in what they offer; with this in mind, I don’t think the products produced by Zyia Active are a scam. Although they are expensive and reviews are beginning to reveal a poor quality. In light of this statement, I do not believe Zyia Active is a scam.
Is Zyia Active MLM A Pyramid Scheme?
To answer this, I have to go off the definition of a pyramid scheme, and with this in mind, I have to say Zyia Active is a pyramid scheme.
The definition of a pyramid scheme according to Wikipedia is: In a pyramid scheme, an organization compels individuals who wish to join to make a payment. In exchange, the organization promises its new members a share of the money taken from every additional member that they recruit.
An MLM model does not take the money from the recruits to pay the top representative; however, representatives are encouraged to recruit new members to make money. Therefore, it is a pyramid scheme, be that as it may, it closely resembles one.

The Problem With MLM Companies In General
According to an FTC Government file, an MLM operation does not have a clearly defined definition. It calls MLM’s “product-based pyramid schemes,” not to mention it compares it to an illegal chain letter. You know the letters you receive in the mail, it says to put a dollar in an envelope with a copy of the letter and send one to 10 people. Then if you do this, you will make a ridiculous amount of money.

The FTC Government document also states that MLM “is inherently flawed, unfair, and deceptive.”
Only 25% of MLM participants turn a profit. Please note this says “turn a profit,” rather than, make money. After you take out expenses, very few make money.
My Recommendations Regarding Zyia Active MLM
I do not recommend Zyia Active MLM to make an income. Most will never recoup their starter fee or break even, although most representatives attempting to recruit you will say you can.
The clothing is very expensive and may be difficult to sell; in addition, the reviews of the quality of activewear and the customer service are looking pretty rough.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review to help you make your decision to become a Zyia Active representative.
