Choosing a hosting platform is complicated, especially for a beginner in affiliate marketing or a blogger. If you are looking at creating a website, it will be helpful to know what is the best WordPress hosting for beginners.

I will compare 5 hosting sites that are a good match for beginners, in addition, I will break down some of the hosting jargon so it is easier to understand.

I chose these 5 best WordPress hosting companies because they offer plans to benefit beginners. All beginners start at a different level and have different needs. With this in mind, most of the requirements are basic, and all of these hosting companies do have the basics, yet some go way beyond the necessities.

Most of these companies offer the ability to have a website and set it up with assistance, but each offers different levels of help. All of these hosting companies use WordPress, which in my opinion, is a qualifier for a beginner.

What Is WordPress

WordPress is a free open source Content Management System released by Matt Mullenweg on May 27, 2003. It is computer software used to manage digital content.

WordPress does not house the content; instead only controls how it shows up on the internet. WordPress handles 40% of all websites on the internet. In contrast, 250 – 350 CMS companies share the other 60%.

WordPress has vast experience in the Content Management System, and for this reason, I want to find hosting that uses WordPress.

A hosting company houses content on servers to store your website. Although, a website is only visible on the internet if it is on a hosting server and managed by a CMS company.

3 Types Of Hosting

Please remember that I have picked the beginners level tier to compare for reasons I will explain below.

Each of the hosting companies may offer different types of hosting for beginners such as:

• Shared hosting: Shared is perfect hosting for beginners because you won’t have heavy traffic at first, and the cost is lower. It’s kind of like having a roommate. You live in the same place, but each has your own room. Comparatively, with Shared hosting, you essentially share a room with others, but it is in a different part of the house.
• VPS (Virtual private server) Hosting: Although VPS hosting is the most popular, it is more expensive. VPS hosting is for the website owner who has a large volume of traffic (people looking at their site on the internet.) At first, you won’t have heavy traffic, but you can upgrade as you grow and traffic increases. With this in mind, VPS hosting, doesn’t share a space.
• Dedicated Server Hosting: Dedicated hosting is a single service for a single website. Large, well-established websites may need a dedicated server because of the volume of customers that come to their site. When a new site having 30,000 + visitors a month, dedicated hosting is beneficial.

WordPress is an Open source platform which means they have software to distribute website pages over the World Wide Web.

Bluehost is one of the more well-known hosting companies and has some good features to offer when setting up a website.

I used Bluehost a few years back and found it more challenging to manage. However, as a newbie back then, I even had trouble figuring out how to log into my C-panel. I have heard they improved a great deal. 

HostGator

In 2002 Brent Oxley founded HostGator and in 2012, Endurance International Group (EIG) bought HostGator, which also owns Bluehost. Hostgator is a reputable company with reasonable pricing. With that in mind, the Hatchling plan does lack a few important details, such as email and strong security.

All plans do lack a sound backup system. But for a hidden fee, you can purchase all of what you need to set up a good website. However, the long wait times for support are a bit concerning for beginners. 

Hostinger

Hostinger‘s employees own the company, which they established in 2004. The home office is in Kaunas County in Lithuania.

Hostinger has some great features with its fast loading time and minimal downtime. However, the biggest drawback is the upsells and needed upgrades to build a website on the starter plan. The prices are low, but the need to pay more becomes evident as you set up your website. 

DreamHost

4 California Harvey Mudd College undergraduates founded DreamHost in 1997. Today the CEO of DreamHost is one of the 4 founders, Michael Rodriguez.

The best part of DreamHost is the no-commitment clause. You pay by the month and can transfer your website at any time. But the downtime and lack of speed can be an issue as you grow your business. In addition, the lack of 24/7 support can be frustrating.

Wealthy Affiliate

Kyle Loudon and Carson Lim started Wealthy Affiliate in 2005. While in college, they began WA to teach people how to set up a niche website and have continued to do so through the years.

Wealthy Affiliate is well known for its all-inclusive platform for learning affiliate marketing. It does so much more than hosting, but I want to add it to the mix of hosting companies for beginners. As a beginner, I started with Bluehost, then moved to GoDaddy, which I did not include here on purpose) and ended up at Wealthy Affiliate.

With Bluehost and other hosting companies, I set up my website. I learned how to navigate my site and manage it. But when it came to moving forward from there, I was lost. That is when I came across Wealthy Affiliate. I set up new websites with WA and learned all I needed to know to start a few niche business websites.

At Wealthy Affiliate, the whole package includes state-of-the-art hosting. The entire package is setting up a website, learning how to manage it, and creating a business.

You can choose to set your site up on a free Siterubix platform and transfer it to a .com after you feel comfortable. Or you can purchase a domain and set it up on a WordPress website which the package includes.
