Hello, I am beyond excited to help you set up your new theme. GeneratePress is by far the best theme I have had the pleasure of using; however, it can be confusing to install if you don’t understand the plugin portion. So let’s go over how to install the GeneratePress premium theme.
What is GeneratePress?
Tom says it so well “GeneratePress is a free WordPress theme that focuses on speed and usability.”
GeneratePress is a WordPress plugin that allows you to create custom themes and plugins. It has an easy-to-use interface with drag & drop functionality for building pages, posts, etc.
You can also use it as a framework for creating a unique theme or plugin. The theme comes with pre-built templates for most popular page types such as: About Us, Services, Pricing, Contact, Blog, Portfolio, 404 Page, etc.
GeneratePress is a lightweight plugin designed for speed; in addition, the plugins are a part of the premium package and allow you to customize the theme and your site to suit your needs.
At the same time, the unique use of plugins lacks bloating and thereby increases the speed of your website.
Not to mention, the usability is phenomenal and easy to understand and customize. GeneratePress offers extensive forums and support to answer any questions, which makes this theme far above standard.
Tom states that in the 6 years that GeneratePress has been available, “it is the best supported and most stable WordPress theme.”
- For one thing, it is reasonably priced
- Notably, lightweight to allow for a faster website speed.
- In addition, Premium options are add ons rather than a change in the theme to keep it lightweight
- Important to realize, GeneratePress Premium is a plugin
- Another key point, it offers an extensive site library with templates to add to your theme
- Each plugin element stands alone; in other words, you can activate only the ones you want.
- In effect, it works beautifully with Woocommerce
- Furthermore, it works seamlessly with block editor WordPress
- Ultimately, it has outstanding support
The steps to install the GeneratePress Premium plugin are simple. Let’s get rolling.

Now, have fun with your new plugin theme, and remember that Tom also created GenerateBlocks Pro, which works seamlessly with the GeneratePress Premium theme.
Oh, and be careful of that “rabbit hole” once you start designing, it is so incredible you won’t want to stop. In other words, you may get lost in the design.
