Checklists keep us accountable. Countless times I have missed or forgotten one of these checklist items. I follow this list with every post I write and publish.
Why Is It Important To Be Consistent?
Google loves consistency and wants to see the SEO ranking markers in your posts. Keep doing the SEO items with every post when you put in the work you want to see results. Consistency will produce results.
Tasks Before You Post
Research
To outrank my competitor, use your competitor’s information to rank above him. Like, use his video or a similar title.
- Topic – Find a topic that your followers will find of interest. Who are your readers? What do they want to see? Power Word list.
- Research keywords – once you find a topic, then check it out in Jaaxy. What keywords need to be in your title that will rank above your competitor? Find keywords that have +100 monthly searches and -100 QSR
- Google suggest – Once you find the keyword check it out on Google. Follow the training in Lesson #1 on the use of Google Suggest
- Determine your target audience – Also in lesson #1, know who you are writing for and know their pain points.
- Article Research – Look at other articles that have the same information you have chosen to write in your article. You can look at their information and learn from it. Or you can look at five articles and incorporate all of the information to write yours. DO NOT copy any articles and DO NOT plagiarize your article. Write original content but use other articles as information and ideas only.
Write
- Write a catchy title – Use your keyword along with other words that will grab attention. I have a list of power words that I will attach here also. You can use a powerful word to gain the interest of your readers. Your keywords need to be at the beginning of your title. A title is no more than 60 characters long. Free character counter.
- Set the category – Place the post under the proper category
- Featured image – Make sure you put your keywords in your image alt text along with a description of the image
- Meta description – Again, you will find this within the All-In-One SEO area. A meta description is no more than 60 characters.
- Social meta image – This is the image that your readers see when you post your article to social media-Found within the All-In-One SEO area. Use the same title and meta description you used in the general SEO area.
- Internal links – Why does google like internal links? Creates relevancy and cross-references and creates an internal site map for google to follow. They tell Google that you are proud of your site and your content.
- External links – This is not an affiliate link, but it is a link to an authority site. Balance both internal and external links; for instance, if you have one internal, then have one external link. You can link to relevant articles on the web. One internal link and one external link are sufficient. I prefer to link to an informational article rather than one promoting other programs.
- Embed a video – This is optional. Still, it will keep people on your site longer, which tells Google that people love your website, and in turn, Google will want to show it to more people
- Call to action – What do you want your reader to do? Your readers need direction. It can be simple like “let me know your thoughts” to create engagement-maybe ask for comments. Or offer “more information.” A call to action does not always need to be “buy something now.”
- SEO – Once you have met all of the SEO requirements of your SEO plugin it is time for the next step
- Publish the post – Don’t overlook this step.
Tasks After You Post
Marketing
- Fetch as Google – This is the same as submitting to index. You will do all of this in Google console.
- Post to social media – Share your new post with each of your social media platforms.
