Search for forums related to your niche. Stake out the popular ones. Get to know and understand the lingo and flow of the people in the forum. Then join the ones that may be most helpful and are most like your interests.
Post engaging content in the forum that will help others by solving a problem they may have. Also, answer questions and offer suggestions. Give tips and interact.
Make sure the forums you join allow you to leave a link to your blog. Once again, you are creating backlinks just as you did with commenting and driving traffic to your blog.
One forum I like is Quora. People ask questions. You can comment on them with a link to your site. Be sure to read the rules, so you leave your link according to their guidelines.
You can also write a post and get comments on it. A lot of times, I will see someone put a link to “read more” at the end of their post.
Thank you for your helpful article on how to increase traffic to my blogs.
I am doing some of the tips you recommend. I have never done backlinks and forum posting.
Forum posting is more of my interest…just my thoughts here, it would be a good idea for me to converse in a forum that’s suitable for my blogs. I could get to know some of the members first, get them to feel comfortable with me and understand their language first before I start posting my articles.
I read a lot of info from Quora so I think I will make that my first place to put my blogs in but subtly and not pushy. How many blogs should I put in forums a week?
Good point on making sure to read the forum’s rules. I would love to get backlinks for sure once my relatively new site matures.
Monica
Hi Monica, I am so happy I can be of some help. I agree about Quora. I like the ease of the platform and answering questions as well as posting them. Another platform I recently started using is Medium. It is also quite easy to post on, and you can use parts of a blog post you already have. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Oh wow! I never heard of Medium. Thank you for your quick response and I’ll check that platform right now.
Parts of my blog post…I like that.
You are so welcome Monica, I hope it works out well for you and your success.
I have just started a new site and was thinking about promoting it. I think quora sounds pretty good. Do they have DO follow backlink as those I feel are the hardest to obtain for new bloggers? I like that you have listed several other ways, as well. Google console seems like a step everyone should follow, as Google is where we want to get ranked.
You can build DO follow backlinks from each one of these methods. But you have to make sure the site you are connecting to does not have a no-follow marked on their blog post or website.
Any backlink is challenging to obtain for new bloggers, but if you diversify your methods and use all five suggestions, it will be easier to get do-follow backlinks.
But do be leary of automated backlinks. Google does frown on this type of link building.
Thank you for these great tips. I’ve used most of these at one point or another but only a couple of them on a continued basis.
I really need to get back into forum posting and article marketing. It’s really about time management for me, LOL.
Thanks again. It’s time I get back on track, hold myself accountable and get to work!
Scott
It is time-consuming to use all five tricks to create backlinks. But backlinks are so crucial for SEO ranking. I hope you can get back on track.
